Men's Ministry

In some ways men are like redwood trees. Redwoods grow for millennia – some are over 2000 years old. They reach as high as 350 feet, yet their roots are only six to ten feet below the surface.
How do these top-heavy monsters stand the test of storms and high winds? They grow together and intermingle their roots. Redwoods stand strong and tall because they stand together.
In today’s world, men often have the “go-it-alone” mentality. We’d do well to take a lesson from the redwoods. Many disciplines require solitude, but that does not mean it is always good to be alone.
When we foster relationships with other men who are also trying to follow Christ, we are engaging in spiritual discipline of fellowship. Men who open themselves up honestly to others of like-minded men find sustenance and encouragement in life’s back-breaking storms.
It is more than “ministry loves company”. It is more like I know my God is real because I can see Him in you. Like the redwoods – when we stand together as men, we are better able to stand tall as leaders.
“There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24

Men's Prayer Breakfast
On the first Saturday of each month, at 8:00 am, Crossroads Southern Baptist Church sponsors a Men's Prayer Breakfast. This ministry outreach is open to all men and is free of charge. Bruce Jensen coordinates cooking and also provides the spiritual leadership by presenting a short devotional lesson.

This is a great opportunity for men in our community to get together and develop close, wholesome relationships as well as to further their understanding of God's truths.
A sign up sheet is usually located in the church vestibule, or reservations can be made by calling the church office at 480-982-9120.
